Terrera stars as Bin Drai record opening Julius Baer Gold Cup win

  • Bin Drai defeated Julius Baer Team by 9 goals to 3.

    Bin Drai and Zedan have stolen an early lead in the Julius Baer Gold Cup after both teams recorded opening wins at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club.

    Bin Drai defeated Julius Baer Team by Habtoor Polo by 9 goals to 3 and Zedan defeated Abu Dhabi Polo Team by 11 goals to 10.

    In the first match of the day Bin Drai, with Guillermo Terrera playing at starrring role, defeated Julius Baer Team to begin the Gold Cup in spectatcular fashion.

    Terrera scored four goals and was subsequently was awarded the Most Valuable Player award.

    In the second match of the day, Zedan defeated Abu Dhabi Polo Team in a thrilling match decided in thefinal seconds, after an impressive goal by Pablo Mac Donough.

    The Argentinean 10-goaler, triple crown winner with La Dolfina, exhibited a polo masterclass in the last two chukkers as Zedan stormed back into the game, before clinching the win.

    Patron Amr Zedan’s team was five goals down with 14 minutes to play before Mac Donough scored six goals in the last two chukkers.

    The Julius Baer Gold Cup will continue Saturday with Mahra against Wolves Polo Team followed by UAE Polo vs Ghantoot.
