More than 1,800 take part in Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge

  • Over 1850 cyclists from across the world hit the streets of Dubai Friday morning for the sixth edition of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, the most popular mass participation cycle challenge in the Middle East.

    The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, attracts cycling enthusiasts from all over the world for the 92km ride around the roads and 100’s of supporters in the cycle village.

    Jacob Tipper was the fastest male finisher in the Challenge, taking just 2.13.32 to cover the distance and Aimee Wright was the fastest female finisher in the Challenge with a time of 2.37.26.

    Talking to organisers in the cycle village, Jacob said: ‘The course was great, and my team has helped me secure this fantastic result. As a keen cyclist I hope to take part in the event again next year.”

    In addition to this year’s cycling weekend, the 53km Corporate Challenge, sponsored by Sony launched with Abdulaziz Al Rashee achieving the fastest male (1.28.01) and Amber Harding the fastest female (1.28.22). The 53km cycle ride is not only a chance for companies to get involved in the cycle season as a team but also an opportunity for those new to the sport to enjoy the fantastic cycling weekend with the shorter distance option now available.

    Spokesperson for the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge said: “It’s great to see so many cyclists out here, from those that ride on a weekly or daily basis to those that just want to enjoy the sport. We have been following everyone’s journey with the four Build-Up rides in preparation for the big 92km challenge and we are delighted to see that we are attracting more and more people to the sport each year with the growth in numbers.”

    In addition the cycling weekend, two Junior Challenges were held yesterday for under 16 year old riders with over 150 kids participating in the 15km ride and the 30km ride.
