  • Ready to go: BeWell Cycle Tour.

Cyclists of all levels from across the UAE are gearing up for the launch of the BeWell Cycle Tour UAE, the latest initiative from Wyndham Hotel Group – the world’s largest and most diverse hotel company.

Taking place on February 12, 2016, the cycle tour is dedicated to celebrating health and fitness in the UAE and encourages the community to join in the fight against obesity on their bikes.

More than 100 cyclists have already confirmed their participation, which will see them take part in one of four routes running concurrently, one starting at Abu Dhabi to Dubai (146km), one starting at Ras Al Khaimah to Dubai (142km) and two shorter routes which will start at Ajman to Dubai (61km) and a 20km taking place in Dubai.

All routes will meet in Dubai where a range of health and fitness activities will take place to continue the celebrations.

As part of the BeWell Cycle Tour, organisers and partners have been working with ten chosen ambassadors in the lead-up to the challenge early next year in the ‘BeWell Ambassador Programme’.

    – Dubai Tour: Sir Bradley Wiggins headlines
    – SHARE, RATE, WIN: With Sport360 ValoraFutbol
    – #360fit: Which protein powder builds muscle faster?

Mediclinic Middle East has provided the ambassadors with a nutritional eating plan to follow with regular check-ups to monitor their progress.

Fitness First Middle East is offering a free, three-month gym membership and a personalised exercise programme for all ambassadors, the programme is unique for each person and will fit their body weight, gender, age and general physique.

Bhavana Dalal, a BeWell Ambassador said: “The reason for joining the BeWell Ambassador Programme is to get some discipline in my life, make sports a daily part of my routine and lose weight at the same time.

"It is important for me to feel fit and I hope that with the help from Mediclinic and Fitness First I will achieve my goals”.

In addition, Wyndham Hotel Group is partnering the Al Jalila Foundation, a Dubai-based healthcare philanthropic organisation, so that guests at participating Wyndham Hotel Group establishments (Wyndham, Ramada, Howard Johnson, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham and TRYP by Wyndham) can make donations to the Foundation’s obesity research fund.
