Anthony Daniels is bidding farewell to the Emirates American Football League as the Desert Bowl-winning head coach is stepping away from the Dubai Stallions.
Following three years in the EAFL, Daniels will hand over the reins of one of Dubai’s two teams to a new coach who will take over for next season.
“It’s been a great three-year run coaching the men’s Dubai Stallions, I never thought I would find American football over here,” Daniels said. “It has been a real experience that I will never forget.
“I would also like to thank every one of the young men who played for me for their hard work and effort. Always remember Stallions strong.”
Daniels joined the league in 2013 after coaching at the high school level in Colorado Springs in the United States. He spent his first season as an assistant to head coach Andre Sommersell as the Stallions finished 6-1-1, but lost the Desert Bowl to the Abu Dhabi Wildcats.

Beginning with the 2014-15 season, Daniels took over as head coach and led the Stallions a 7-0-1 record and the team’s first title as they beat the Dubai Barracudas in Desert Bowl III.
This past season was a different story, however, as the Stallions went 2-4-1 and lost in first-round of the playoffs to the Wildcats – their first campaign without reaching the Desert Bowl.
EAFL general manager Dustin Cherniawski said: “Coach Daniels has always shown a strong commitment to the Stallions program and even helped coach in the youth league this past season.
“He always has the best intentions of the league and its continued development at heart.”
Cherniawski also said the league is reviewing candidates and will announce the new head coach of the Stallions “when the time is right”.
