  • Repeat: Ghantoot and Habtoor played in the 2013 final.

In a rematch of last year’s final, Ghantoot ADCB and Habtoor Polo will face off for honours in the Emirates Bentley Gold Cup at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club on Friday.

Habtoor Polo are expected to go all out to try and regain the trophy that they had won in 2012 while Ghantoot ADCB will be looking to defend the title they won last year.

Last season Ghantoot beat Habtoor 14-6 in a gripping final, and this weekend, Habtoor will be looking to strike back with the help of their seven-goal ace Francisco Elizalde.

Ghantoot ADCB, who beat Desert Palm 2 7-6 in a tight semi-final, will be brimming with confidence having also won the McLaren Silver Cup last month.

The Abu Dhabi team have eight-goal star Facundo Sola in their ranks and it was the Argentinean’s decisive goal in the semi-final that ensured Ghantoot a place in the final.

The fifth edition of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series saw 10 teams battle it out since the start of last month, first in the McLaren Silver Cup which then made way for the Emirates Bentley Gold Cup.

The 16-goal handicap series is considered the most prestigious international polo tournament in the Middle East, Asia and Africa region, bringing together the world’s best.

The final of the subsidiary cup starts at 14:00 while the Emirates Bentley Gold Cup final kicks off at 16:00.
