The IOC’s decision to not give Russia a blanket ban from the Rio Olympics was met with lots of criticism from current and former athletes that saw it as a weak move that fails to protect clean sport.
Here’s a sample of the reaction to the latest development…
In order to remain dignified,i've no nice words to describe my feelings re the #IOC decision in the name of sport. So I'll leave it there!😡

Well, that’s the IOC board off my xmas card list then

(Sadly) The #Olympics of 2016 will be remembered in history for the bottling of the #IOC.

What sort of message does this send out? Surely IOC's job is to make crucial decisions rather than passing the buck https://t.co/hJMEooFTRB
— Chris Hoy (@chrishoy) July 24, 2016
Bottled it - IOC passing the buck to individual federations (sports) on whether to allow Russian athletes to compete in Rio 2016. Bad day.
— James Cracknell (@jamescracknell) July 24, 2016
So past Russian dopers are excluded but Gatlin etc aren't. Wow. Hospital pass of all hospital passes by IOC to International Federations.

Appalling that #Russia have not been banned from the #Olympics

State sponsored cheating, bribery and corruption.#IOC Shameful decision.
Sport changed my life for the better.

I love sport.
The Olympics are now an embarrassment to sport.
Shame #IOC
KYRGIOS FIRES BACK
Nick Kyrgios is one of millions out there obsessing over the game, Pokemon GO, but he received some criticism when he tweeted that he’s been spending more time playing it than hitting a tennis ball.
The Aussie had a killer response though for one of his critics.
Just quietly, how good is Pokemon Go. Honestly been playing that more than tennis 😳😅😍

I'm disappointed with the #englandmanager appointment. Do the FA really believe this is a step forward??? You think the team is bad now 😕
— Darel Russell (@DarelRussell) July 26, 2016
Think the appointment had to be a foreign manager as unfortunately we have a lack of world class English managers if we are really truthful
