  • Football and tennis dominates the sporting landscape over the festive period in the UAE over the next seven days.

    From the visit of Egypt’s Mohamed Salah to Dubai for the Globe Soccer Awards in the city – to the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi – there is no shortage of events going on.

    And of course there is a big clash between Al Ahli and Al Ain in the President’s Cup, as well as the return of Meydan Racing.

    DUBAI INTERNATIONAL SPORTS CONFERENCE

    Tuesday, December 27 – Wednesday, December 28

    FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Roma attacker Mohamed Salah are just some of the marquee names who will feature at the Dubai International Sports Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday.

    The annual event has become a key date in the Middle East’s footballing calendar, attracting prominent figures for more than a decade.

    This tradition is set to continue at Madinat Jumeirah, with the first night also featuring the seventh edition of the Globe Soccer Awards.

    MUBADALA WORLD TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
    Thursday, December 29 – Saturday, December 31

    With the New Year approaching, it’s almost time for this year’s edition of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

    The world’s top tennis stars, including World No.1 Andy Murray, World No.3 Milos Raonic, 14-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, Czech powerhouse Tomas Berdych, Belgian David Goffin and Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

    Activities start from midday each day, except for finals day, on Saturday, where it begins at 10am.

    PRESIDENT’S CUP
    Monday, December 26 – Tuesday, December 27

    The President’s Cup returns with an exciting fixture list, which sees Al Ain at home to Al Ahli and Al Jazira away to Kalba.

    There is a full schedule of fixtures, with matches being played across Monday and Tuesday.

    RACING AT MEYDAN

    Thursday, December 29

    Take in all the action from a busy card at Meydan Racecourse this Thursday.

    The last race of 2016 is expected to be a highly competitive Meydan meet and the action begins at 6.30pm.

    General admission is free at the venue while there are hospitality options to sit in the GrandStand.
