There were six hat-tricks scored in total, including two in Fulham’s 10-1 hammering of Ipswich, who had been led to the title 18 months earlier by Alf Ramsey. Graham Leggat scored four and Bobby Howfield netted hat-tricks.
There were also two hat-tricks in Blackburn’s 8-2 destruction of West Ham, with Fred Pickering
Roger Hunt bagged four in Liverpool’s 6-1 thrashing of Stoke, as did Andy Lochhead as Burnley beat Manchester United 6-1.
