  • A wheelie good idea: Cycle, run or simply stroll around the Yas Marina Circuit F1 track with TrainYAS.

Spend your Tuesday evenings on the F1 track of Yas Marina Circuit running, cycling, or simply taking a stroll at TrainYAS by Activelife in Abu Dhabi’s own community park.

Whether you’re keen to improve your fitness or just want to start leading a healthier life, Yas Marina Circuit offers a safe and friendly environment which is open to all every Tuesday evening from 18:00 to 21:00.

“It’s important that the Circuit, as a National asset, is relevant to everyone,” said Nick McElwee, sales and marketing director of Yas Marina Circuit.

“Rather like Central Park to New Yorkers or Hyde Park to Londoners we want the whole community to feel involved with Yas Marina Circuit.”

TrainYAS started in 2010 and has only grown as more and more people in the Abu Dhabi commun-ity continue to take part. By the end of the year, Yas Marina Circuit are expecting to see over 4,000 participants per week, making TrainYAS a one-of-a-kind fitness venture in the UAE.

“TrainYAS provides a focused platform for training for people of all fitness levels but it’s still important to make it feel social and fun,” said McElwee.

“The community feel is very important to us, after all, this is an event owned by the community and facilitated by us.”

The track, which spans the length of a full grand prix at 5.55km, can accommodate runners and cyclers at once. There is one large lane for walkers and runners along with three cycling lanes for fast, intermediate and beginner riders.

TrainYAS also tracks the fitness levels of its community, which is done when participants register for free either online at www.yasmarinacircuit.com or on site. By filling out basic information regarding height, weight, age and activity levels, TrainYAS will tell you your body mass index (BMI).

The results will then be tracked to see how the average BMI is trending throughout the months, which will gauge the fitness and health of the Abu Dhabi community.

Courtesy of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, 50 bikes will be provided for the community to cycle free of charge.

Over the last two years, cyclists at TrainYAS have collectively rode the distance from Abu Dhabi all the way to Cleveland, United States and back (over 43,000km).

Additionally, 200 bikes are available to rent for all age groups.

For those wanting to test themselves, Premier Timing’s leader board gives cyclists the chance to time their laps against others.

Participants can also take advantage of the free boot camp run by partner Haddins Fitness, as well as train for upcoming fitness events at Yas Marina Circuit, such as TriYAS coming in February.

Make TrainYAS a staple of your Tuesdays and hit the track running.
