  • Double delight: BSAK U14A side.

Having enjoyed their best football season in history, the British School Al Khubairat’s (BSAK) head coach Robert Kirkland hopes they can carry their form into the new term when it begins later this month.

Their girls put on a strong show in their competitive ADISSA leagues with the Under-11s crowned champions while the U-9s finished runners-up in their age group. More success continued for the Abu Dhabi outfit with nine title triumphs in the boys categories.

Inspired by Timi Esan, the U-12A team sealed a league and cup double, and there was more reason to celebrate when the U-14A and U-16s achieved the same feat.

After the U-12B outfit finished second in their league, the U-14B and U-19 sides went one better to claim top spot to complete a remarkable term for BSAK. Coach Kirkland said: “It’s been a remarkable term for the British School of Al Khubairat.

“The results achieved have been superb and all the players put in a lot of hard work. “It’s the first time the school has had so much success in a football term and the players can be proud of their efforts.”

Pupils will be back on the field from this week when the primary boys and secondary girls begin their campaigns, and Kirkland says there’s every chance more silverware could be added to the trophy cabinet.

“We have already had the trials and the players who have been selected are very talented,” said Kirkland. “Training is already underway and the team spirit is great. They can take a lot of confidence from last term but we know it will be a challenging season.”

Off the field, BSAK’s other sporting achievements included their aquathlon triumph at the Al Yasmina gala, while their netball senior girls side took the top honours in their division.
