Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) revealed the extent of success of their ‘Champions of Tomorrow’ programme, as the final rounds of matches are set to be played Monday and Tuesday.

The initiative, which begun in October 2015 with the aim of spreading the culture of sports amongst youth, witnessed the participation of different schools across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.

The final round follows a robust competition among participants who showed strong rivalry and competitiveness in the playoffs stage of two rounds, with 84,788 students (41,828 boys and 42,960 girls) taking part in ‘Elementary,’ ‘Secondary’ and ‘High school’ divisions.

The second edition of the ‘Champions of Tomorrow’, comprising athletics, swimming, fencing, taekwondo, judo, jiu-jitsu, archery, football, basketball, handball and volleyball, received a wide response from students.

As many as 84,244 students participated in the previous edition, a number that has already been crossed this year.

The final round for boys events will be held on Monday, while the girls finals will be held the following day. The events will take place at The Petroleum Institute, the Armed Forces Headquarters and Mubarak Bin Mohamed School.
