  • The NIMS U13 winners.

Facing Our Own English School (OOES), Al Warq’a, in the 11th Berry Hills IBS League final, NIMS were made to work for their 47-45 victory in a thrilling encounter.

After coming out on top in the first three quarters (15-11, 9-7, 12-10), they were on course for a comfortable triumph.

But OOES fought back to level the scores at 42-all in the fourth quarter. With the game still in the balance, both sides went for the winner.

Al Warq’a had one hand on the crown after adding three points to their tally but NIMS had the final say, scoring five in the dying seconds to register a sensational victory. Muhammad Sinn topped the charts for NIMS with 23 points, ahead of Nabeel Nasser, who contributed with 22.

Despite losing in the semi-finals, there was something to celebrate for DPS Dubai, who finished third in the competition after beating Gulf Indian High School.

In the girls’ event, DPS Sharjah comfortably beat Emirates National School 31-9 to take the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, it will be an all-Dubai clash as Our Own High School and DPS battle it out for the Under-13 championship crown this week.
