  • Thriller: THe Rashid Al Saleh v Indian High School game produced 11 goals.

Abdul Rahman Tawalbeh grabbed a great hat-trick and Mohammed Ihab scored four times as Rashid Al Saleh Private School won 9-2 against Indian High School in the Dubai Schools Football Cup on Saturday.

It was an impressive win for the boys’ under-15 side, who had lost 6-0 earlier in the day to Westminster School in Group C.

Speaking after the match, Ihab praised his team-mates for helping him score four goals. “It was very good (to score four goals) and I succeeded in the match. I’m very happy and very satisfied with the result. My team-mates helped me a lot during the match and they all played well to help me score these goals."

Tawalbeh said: “It was a great feeling to score a hat-trick. We played together as a team, we passed and tackled well. Now I want to do my best for the rest of the games.”

Coach Mohamed Abou Elmajd hailed his players in achieving this fantastic result. “I am proud of Ihab as he works very hard during training. Tawalbeh accomplished on the field and it was great to see him score.”

Meanwhile, Group C leaders Sabis-Choueifat extended their lead at the top with a 2-0 win over second-placed Westminster School.

Man of the Match Mohammad Sweidan of Sabis-Choueifat was delighted with the result, whose side now leads by five points, having played a game more.

“This was an important result for our confidence for the rest of the tournament. It keeps us on our toes and keeps us motivated for our next games,” said Sweidan.

Elsewhere, Dubai National School (Al Barsha) tightened their grip at the top of Group B with a 2-1 win over Dubai Arab American School.

Ahmed Al Shamsi and Omar Faris scored the goals for Dubai National School, who now have 24 points from nine matches, six clear of Dubai International School (Garhoud), who have a game in hand.

In other games, Al Shafie School under-15s captain Mohanad Ahmed rued his team’s missed opportunities after they lost their 100 per cent record with a 0-0 draw against Al Sadiq Islamic English School in Group A.

Ahmed said: “We missed a lot of chances. We should’ve won because we dominated the game but the players were selfish and overconfident.”
