Corey Brewer and James Harden made the difference as the Houston Rockets saw off NBA rivals the Portland Trail Blazers.

Brewer’s three-pointer inside the final second forced overtime at the Toyota Center – and Harden took over with all nine points to take his personal tally to an impressive 45 points as the Rockets snapped a four-game losing streak with a 108-103 success over the Northwest Division strugglers.

Russell Westbrook was another player in impressive scoring form on Wednesday night, pouring in 43 as the Oklahoma City Thunder hit back from a 27-21 first quarter deficit to inflict a fifth successive defeat on the New Orleans Pelicans, 110-103.

Tony Parker’s season-high 25 points were the highlight as Southwest Division pacesetters the San Antonio Spurs won for the sixth game in a row, seeing off the Denver Nuggets 109-98, while a dominant 34-25 fourth quarter enabled the Utah Jazz to come from behind and beat the Toronto Raptors 93-89.

The Dallas Mavericks wiped out an 31-16 first quarter deficit to record their fifth successive win, 106-102 against Atlantic Division leaders the Boston Celtics, while Paul George led the scoring with 31 points for the Indiana Pacers in their 112-85 drubbing of the hapless Philadelphia 76ers – who drop to 0-12.

Elsewhere on Wednesday night, the Orlando Magic sunk the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-101, the Atlanta Hawks downed the Sacramento Kings 103-97, while the Charlotte Hornets continued their recent improvement with a 116-111 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
