  • DSC launch Future Striker Program

Dubai Sports Council announced the launch of the first stage of the Future Striker Program in a meeting, convened on Sunday, July 10.

The meeting was held at DSC’s premises in Dubai Design District, in the presence of H.E. Saeed Hareb the Secretary General of DSC, Ali Omar, Director of Sports Development Department in DSC and Frederic Kanoute, the world football star & the Technical Expert of the program.

The Future Striker Program qualifies youth & grassroots strikers through intensive training sessions in UAE and abroad, under the supervision of Kanoute, the Technical Expert of the program.

Several players were exposed to technical & physical training sessions, after which six were nominated to participate in a training camp, to be hosted by French club Olympique Lyonnais from August 3 to 13, 2016.

The nominees list includes: Saleh Abdulla Al-Shaihi of Al-Nasr, Khalifa Khalid Khamis of Dubai, Sultan Faiz Al-Baloushi of Al-Ahli, Obaid Salem Al-Bidwawi of Hatta, Abdulla Bakheet of Al-Shabab and Salem Ahmed Al-Sabousi of Al-Wasl.

The program is part of DSC’s strategy, endeavouring to boost youth & grassroots and make them qualified enough to join a professional experience and lead clubs & national teams in the future.

H.E. Hareb remarked that he hopes to see the program’s associates, one day, playing & gaining achievements.

“You have a unique opportunity to boost your technical levels through this program, supervised by Kanounte who has gained distinctive experiences from European clubs. I hope that all of you acquire new gains from the distinctive experiences of Kanoute,” he said.

“DSC is keen to focus on the youth & grassroots, who represent the base of the football future in UAE. We have, therefore, launched the Future Striker Program, endeavouring to qualify new generation of strikers who may lead our clubs & national teams in the short–term future,” he added.

Kanoute discussed the training sessions to be held during the external training camp in Lyon.

“Players are decided to join four–hour training sessions per day along with theoretical lectures, including skills & tactic sides. The lectures will increase the level of their awareness with the importance of the striker’s eminent role to attain excellence and help colleagues gain victories,” he remarked.

“After completing the training camp, we will submit a detailed report on each player along with full special training program to rectify negative sides and improve positive aspects. We will also follow players’ performance with their clubs & national teams,” he added.

Kanoute concluded: “The program boosts players’ abilities and qualifies strikers to enrich UAE’s clubs & national teams. DSC’s efforts and support for youth & grassroots will surely enhance players’ technical levels and supply clubs & national teams with distinctive players who are able to create a difference.”
