  • Going high-tech: New smart app.

The launch of the new app is part of the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to convert Dubai into a smart city.

The new version provides the latest news, information and services; including registering your nominations for the eighth edition of the awards, which are set to be announced in the first week of December.

The application will also include details of voting for nominees for the best local junior athlete.

The first stage of the smart app provides services which can easily be downloaded through smartphones and tablets and includes several privileges.

HE Khalid Ali Bin Zayed, secretary general of the Award, said: “The Secretary General of the Award is keen to implement the decisions of the Board of Trustees and exert hard efforts to boost services and communicate with the sports sector via smart technology.

“We have launched the electronic refereeing and electronic nomination for athletes and sports entities, and we are launching the smart application as part of a comprehensive process to develop and convert all our internal and external services into smart services that meet the satisfaction of users.

“We will launch further smart services to convert the entire work of the Award into smart services.”

The Board of Trustees confirmed registration for the eighth edition of the Award will remain open for another month until the September 20.

This is to ensure performances of UAE and other Arab participants at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be taken into consideration.
