    ABU DHABI TOUR 2016

    Attend the UCI-approved Abu Dhabi Tour for its second edition and witness the world’s best cyclists compete on a course that takes in the best the emirate has to offer.

    British cyclist and Abu Dhabi Tour ambassador Mark Cavendish was forced out of last year’s race with injury and will be determined to make amends. Continues daily until Sunday 23.

    Friday October 21

    DUBAI MUSCLE SHOW 2016 

    This Friday and Saturday, Middle East’s first and only global platform for fitness, nutrition and bodybuilding brands to showcase products and services.

    There will be an expected 10,000 visitors on October 21-22 at Dubai International Marine Club, who will be entertained with celebrity fitness appearances from former Mr. Olympias including Ronnie Coleman and inspirational female fitness models.

    LABOUR RUN 2016

    The Labour Run makes it annual return this Friday in support of hard-working people whose gargantuan contributions have helped make the UAE such an important global presence.

    The aim is to help unite labourers with those in other sectors who share a passion for running. Former Sonapur labourer Ismail Ssenyange is currently living his dream as a full-time marathon runner and will compete in this year’s event.

    DESERT WARRIOR CHALLENGE 2016

    The Desert Warrior Challenge is designed to test participants’ physical strength, mental resilience, teamwork and overall fitness with a series of gruelling obstacles.

    From children to seasoned extreme athletes, the series of challenges are fashioned for various skill and fitness levels consisting of multiple obstacles.

    Young warriors can feature in the Junior category, which will see them traverse 2km of terrain before tackling appropriate obstacles, while first-time warriors are encouraged to attend the ‘Fearless’ category – a 5km track with more than 12 challenges.

    The ‘Ultimate’ category is the next step up with its 10km obstacle course, but the big one is the brand new ‘Extreme’ race he first of its kind in the region. A 20km course, it is certainly  not for the faint-hearted.

    EXPATBLOKE FIGHT NIGHT AT LE MERIDIEN

    ExpatBloke proudly unveils its premiere ‘Fight Night’, with a white collar boxing event sanctioned by the UAE Boxing Federation and Dubai Sports Council.

    Although 600 spectators will witness the entire spectacle unravel within Le Meridien’s Great Ballroom, passionate pugilists looking to be a part of the action need look no further. Boxing hopefuls looking to seize the chance to step into the ring and go mano-a-mano with their opponents must first pass the tough selection process.

    OCEANIC TRIATHLON SERIES – RACE 1

    Thanks to ever-growing demand, the Oceanic Triathlon Series returns to Khorfakkan.

    Devised by the four-star Oceanic Hotel, the cost-friendly course encourages participation in two forms: Short and Super Sprint.

    The latter, as advertised in its naming, challenges participants to repeat an altered, yet shorter version of the aforementioned course as rapidly possible.

    ABU DHABI DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL 2016

    The phenomenon is believed to have begun over two millennia ago but Abu Dhabi will celebrate its ninth edition of the Dragon Boat Festival this Friday and Saturday.

    This year, teams comprised of 20 participants, with no more than 16 men per boat, are in for a real treat.

    STAGES TT CHALLENGE 2016 – STAGE 2

    From Al Qudra to Jebel Jeis, the Stages TT Challenge pits participants against one another in a harsh test that will exhaust their physical and mental endurance.

    Contestants vying for glory are required to cycle through arduous mountain ascents and 50km distances battling the country’s sandy and windy environs.

    Similar to Australian Pursuits, riders will be released 15 seconds apart, but remember drafting is strictly prohibited as the challenge is adamantly a solo effort!
