    Alex Scott, UK

    Football

Football fans are having a really hard time listening to some ex-pros-turned-pundits on their TV screens these days. Their analysis is often unsophisticated and dated as they lean on the deliberately outrageous in an attempt to remain relevant. Many have failed to evolve as the game and its supporters have developed. But Alex Scott is one voice cutting through the nonsense and delivering sharp observations. Elegant and articulate, Scott’s rapid wit and shrewd inspection has earned a reputation as one of the best analysts in the game. A regular on Britain’s immensely popular highlights show Match of the Day and on Sky Sports, Scott is helping to break boundaries to ensure that the female voice is normalised within football. Of course, we must not forget that as a raiding right-back with Arsenal and the national team she is one of English football’s most successful and skilled operators. But it is Scott’s vivacious personality rather than accomplished feet which seals her place on this list. She is a woman owning the man’s world and the 34-year-old is being recognised for astute understanding of the game.

“I’m not out here trying to be better than any Male/Female. There is room for us all to rise! I’m just trying to be the best ‘I’ can be in the role I am ‘employed’ to do. Have fun along the way, learn from people around me, grow/be better!” – Alex Scott
