Ahdaaf Cup: Fiorentina Dubai maintain 100% record

  • It was another night of entertaining action at the Ahdaaf Cup.

    The Group stages of the Adhaaf Cup powered by Nike are reaching their conclusion.

    Saturday night saw the culmination of groups A-D, with E and F scheduled to be complete tonight.

    There was just one game in Group A, with Amazing Boys beating Falcons 1-0.

    Fiorentina Dubai finished with three wins from three after 3-0 victory over Zol’s United in Group B. Tayseer got the better of Angry Birds 3-1.

    Mazarita confirmed their 100% record in Group C with a 3-0 win over Hypervenom, which Rijab and Wolverhampton played out a 1-1 draw.

    Gladiator FC couldn’t make it three from three in Group D after only managing a 2-2 draw with Robertos. Guns and Moses picked up their second win with a 1-0 victory over Viene El Invierno.

    Tonight sees the final group games in E and F. Panthers FC take on Santos, while Marhoom Humaid Aref face YNWA FC.

    Finally, it’s Misho against DOHL and Bianconeri against All Star.

    In the women’s competition, Eagles picked up their first win – 3-2 over CANDO Real Estate, elsewhere Fireballs beat Leoni FC 1-0 , and Dubai AllStar got the better of Dubai Warriror 3-0.

    Played on two Nike-branded pitches, in the Al Quoz industrial area, teams will compete against each other in a league table format before progressing onto the knockout stages of the competition. Matches are played in a five-a-side format with sides allowed to register seven players in the squad, who can be used in rotation during the game.

    Teams are competing over nine days as they battle it out for the winner’s trophy.

    There’s competition for both males and females as 24 men’s teams who will be looking to take home a share of the Dhs 30,000 grand prize. The Nike slogan for the tournament, which is emblazoned around the pitches, says ‘End it with speed, end it with precision’, which is exactly what the teams will have to do as matches are just 30 minutes in length.
