  • Ras Al Khaimah is a stunning location

Runners are gearing up the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, but the emirate has so much more to offer than just this great event.

Participants are being encouraged to explore the area when they compete – and those who do, won’t be disappointed.

Runners of the popular RAK Half Marathon will tackle a new route, around the shores of Al Marjan, as the event returns for its 14 th edition in February.

Participants have the option of competing in the full half marathon, relay teams, 5k and, for the kids, there’s a 1km fun run.

But why not make a weekend of it and check out some of the following great attractions?

    Jebel Jais

Fly over the awe-inspiring cliffs and canyons of Jebel Jais, as you zip from platform to platform in this unique experience. Covering a total distance of 5 KM via a series of 7 ziplines, ranging from 337M to just over 1KM, the Jebel Jais Zipline Tour will give you a panoramic, bird’s eye view of the towering Hajar mountains.

    Suwaidi Pearls

The Suwaidi Pearls Farm was established in 2005 by prominent Emirati Abdulla Al Suwaidi, and is the first farm of its kind in the Gulf region. The farm cultivates the Pinctada Radiata, otherwise known as the Gulf pearl oyster, using locally sourced mollusks that live in the natural creek in Al Rams.

    Ras Al Khaimah Beach

Close to the city, this beach offers its visitors a unique experience of privacy and fun at the same time. It is close to the Kuwaiti souq and surrounded by traditional cafes for a unique cultural experience.

    Al Jazirah Al Hamra

This is a unique area for Ras Al Khaimah and the whole country. Al Jazirah Al Hamra shows all elements of a traditional town, including a fortress for defence purposes, a small market, several mosques and a variety of houses types. These range from simple buildings to ornate houses with courtyards which belonged to rich pearl merchants. Al Jazirah Al Hamra is one of the best places to study traditional coral-stone architecture, used along the coast of the UAE.

    Dhayah Fort

The only hilltop fort still existing in the UAE and offers a fantastic view of the lush palm gardens, the sea and the dramatic mountains.

    Bedouin Oasis Camp

This secret haven has been designed for the discerning customer, desiring a traditional magical experience of the Arabian Desert, fused with indulgence and luxury. The Bedouin Oasis is an authentic reproduction of Bedouin life just as it used to be. Surreal simple ambiance, it’s a place for everybody where many activities can be experienced while your stay.
