World’s Ultimate Strongman is expanding into Bahrain – with a weekend boasting the biggest available purse in strongman history – $350k.

WUS was born out of Dubai in 2018 with the world’s best strongmen assembled for the biggest and boldest test of strength on the planet.

Now on April 11, it will spread to Bahrain after it was announced the latest iteration would take place alongside the quest to find the GCC’s Strongest Man.

The line-up for the contest it yet to be announced but will feature the very best in the world – as we have seen in Dubai – who will battle it out for that groundbreaking prize pool.

Dubai’s two WUS events to date had already set new levels of athlete treatment, and production values of a strongman event, shaking up the established strongman fraternity.

With this second location, the Middle East can seriously lay claim to being the epicentre of the strongman world – especially with the reward on offer to the athletes.

Direction to host WUS Bahrain came from HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in partnership with WUS Founders Don Idrees and Mark Boyd.

“We instructed for hosting the World’s Ultimate Strongman Championship on April 11, 2020 to coincide with GCC’s Strongest Man which will take place on April 10, 2020. We aim from holding this event to continue our efforts to support the prestigious position Bahrain has reached in the area of sport through hosting major sporting events,” HH Shaikh Khalid said.

Further announcements on the athletes involved, and events are expected in the coming days.
