Puma may have arrived to the party fashionably late, but they’ve turned up in style.
The collared football boot has swept the market since Nike introduced the trend earlier this year. Adidas swiftly followed with their own iteration and now Puma have got in on the action with the evoTOUCH, which boasts some serious tech and upgrades to ensure they stand in a class of their own.
The evoKNIT upper is the most obvious feature and the plan with this boot to actually eradicate the need for a sock entirely.
According to Puma, gaining optimum control and touch of the ball is about getting as close a feel to it as possible. Now, you may be concerned it’ll cause blisters but inside the boot is Griptex patterns which provide “multi-directional grip and a reassuring fit”.
Discomfort while playing tends to come from your foot shifting, causing friction hot spots but the evoTOUCH has been constructed to ensure your feet stay locked in.
While Nike and Adidas have already gained a foothold when it comes to the collar trend, Puma are setting new precedents to take it a step further with the aim of starting their own barefoot revolution.
Using premium kangaroo leather, the thin upper allows for ultimate touch and feel of the ball – just try to avoid getting stamped on!
We rate it: 9 out of 10: Comfortable, well designed and a marked difference in the ability to control the ball.
The Ignite collection continues to engineer new designs and tech for mid and long-distance running. And Puma have built on their solid reputation with the latest addition to the franchise for both men and women with the all-new Ignite Dual.
The idea is to provide ‘duality in both function and style’ to ensure keen runners are given crucial flexibility and cushioning.
Featuring their signature Ignite Foam mid-sole, the shoe offers full length energy return, which in layman’s terms means the shoe compresses during landing and rebounding.
In addition, there’s graphic tees, shorts and jackets available for both sexes to ensure you’re covered from head-to-toe.
Increasingly we’re seeing women’s clothing slice through the boundary between casual and gym style apparel.
At the forefront of this is Puma and they’ve recently introduced the Women’s Gold Pack Collection, which consists of running, training and sportstyle apparel and footwear.
They’ve opted for a bold and chic colour palette, utilising gold, black and white to exude street sophistication.
Headlining the collection is the training shoe, ‘The Fierce’, which are worn by style icon Kylie Jenner, and the idea is to give every confident woman a bolder look for their high-intensity work-outs.
