  • Doha scored a big win.

Aaron Palmer’s men had been left bruised by last week’s loss at The Fortress and took it out on the side who had announced prior to the game that former dual code rugby star Henry Paul will become their head coach from next season.

Veteran Number 8 Caine Elesara led the way for the hosts with a hat-trick of tries.

There were two scores apiece for prop Sam Spencer and winger John Evanes while fly-half Broom Tremayne also touched down and converted three of his side’s scores.

Replacements Wade Lotter, Cameron Bain and Tim Newnham completed the rout for Doha, who jump to 25 points but will hold little hope of still challenging for the West Asia Championship title when the season concludes in two weeks’ time.

Dragons could at least console themselves with a try-scoring bonus point as they went over the try line four times through skipper Ross Samson, UAE sevens international Ian Overton, as well as Matt Henry and Bruce Pendrey.

Defeat sees Dragons drop down to a disappointing seventh place following Bahrain’s 64-41 win against Al Ain Amblers.
