    Rafael Nadal squeezed past Grigor Dimitrov in the Swiss Indoors Basle.

    The 14-time Grand Slam winner, seeded third, dropped the second set to the Bulgarian but eventually battled through 6-4 4-6 6-3.

    Croatia beat Switzerland again earlier in the day when seventh seed Marin Cilic beat Marco Chiudinelli 6-3 7-6 (7-3).

    South Africa’s Kevin Anderson, seeded fourth, beat Croatian Borna Coric 6-3 6-2, and eighth seed David Goffin of Belgium dispatched Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-4 6-3.

    Jack Sock won the all-American clash when he swept past Denis Kudla 6-4 6-2 and Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili needed three sets to sink Leonardo Mayer of Argentina.
