  • One of ten: The futuristic DB10 which will be on display.

One of the stars of the show will undoubtedly be the DB10 which was used in the latest James Bond film, Spectre.

The DB10 was created exclusively for Bond to drive in the new movie and was the first car to be created specifically for the fictional character.

There were ten DB10s built by Aston and eight of them were used in the film. The one at the Dubai International Motor Show was the car which ended up in the canal at the end of the Rome chase scene in the film.

    – Car of the week: October 22 – Volvo V60 Polestar

The DB10 wasn’t built as a production car and they will never be available to buy although one of the ten will be auctioned off next year for charity.

Some staggering offers have already been made to Aston Martin by wealthy collectors wanting to buy a DB10 but all have been rejected with the auction the only chance to own one, and it is expected to raise an astonishing amount of money.

The functional car is powered by a 4.7-litre V8 engine with a manual gearbox and goes from 0-100kmh is around 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 305kmh.

Although it will never be sold the design does hint at what future Ast-ons, including the new DB11, might look like.

The DB11 will be the first Aston to come off the production line to have an input from Mercedes AMG and is part of a £700m investment plan for the future of Aston who hope to introduce a new product every year for the next five years.

The DB10 is not the only car on the Aston Martin stand with the monstrously fast Vulcan, a limited edition 800bhp supercar, and the Rapide sharing the limelight.

David McDowell, general manager of Aston Martin, Dubai, said: “This Motor Show is extremely important because it is the major one for the entire Gulf region.

"We not only get people from the UAE but from all the GCC and Levant area so it’s a great opportunity to support the whole region not just Dubai.

“It also gives us a great opportunity to have some time with our existing customers and to speak to prospective clients, people who are interested in the brand and want to know more about us, what we stand for and what lies ahead in the future.

“So for this year at the show we have the Vulcan with the option of a road-going or track version and at the moment a good percentage of both have already been purchased.

“Then we have the Lagonda, our exclusive four door sports limousine, the fastest four door production car in the world.”

Jaguar Land Rover also provided cars for the Bond film with the villain Hinx driving the C-X75 which will also never be built. A Range Rover Sport SVR and a Land Rover Defender were also used in the film and will be at the show.
