    The first Ecco Challenge of the New Year at Yas Links was a Pairs Betterball format at Yas Links, and it was Robert Paige and his playing partner Karl Codd who topped the leaderboard in the end on the basis of their last six holes after finishing on an incredible 41 points.

    This was Codd’s second monthly win in a row in the ECCO Challenge, and he and Paige had to wait until the end to find out about their triumph, having finished tied with Brian McClure and Thomas Kunt.

    Third place was presented to husband and wife duo of Alan and Teresa Sheepwash, who finished their round with 40 points.

    The next Ecco Challenge, to be payed on an Individual Stableford format, will be on Friday, February 20.

    Registration open for Sharjah Dufry Ladies Open
    The seventh edition of the Dufry-sponsored Ladies Open Golf Championship will be played at the Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club on Saturday, February 7.

    Entries are open and beginning to mount up, and with the field limited to lowest 69 golfers, ladies are urged to reserve their spots as soon as possible.

    Dufry (Sharjah Duty Free) are back on board as sponsors for the fifth consecutive year. Sana Tufail, winner of MEGAs Lady Amateur Player of the Year, is the defending champion.

    US university talent scouts at Faldo event in Al Ain United Sports

    USA, the sports scholarship consultancy that placed local prodigy Sana Tufail on a full scholarship at the University of Tulsa studying Petroleum Engineering whilst being a studentathlete, will be visiting Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai from February 9 onwards.

    Director Andy Newman and golf consultant Jamie Alexander will be attending the Faldo Series Middle East Championship at Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club from February 12-14 to assess and recruit talented young male and female golfers.

    The UK-based firm works with talented young student athletes worldwide aged 15-19 years old achieve sports scholarships in the United States of America.

    Mercedes-Benz car for Desert Classic ace
    The first player to make a hole-in-one on the par-3, 15th hole of Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club during next week’s Dubai Desert Classic, will drive away a brand-new Mercedes Benz car courtesy Gargash Enterprises.

    As the Official Car of the tournament, Gargash Enterprises, the authorized general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, will also roll out a gleaming fleet of luxury SUVs through SIXT rent a car to chauffeur marquee players to and from the tournament.
