  • Local talent: A number of regional drivers were in the mixed at this year’s edition.

With a little over eight months still to go for the 2016 Hankook 24H Dubai, organisers on Wednesday revealed that they have already received 65 entries, with a real possibility that registrations could cross the 89 cars that took to the start line for the 10th anniversary at this year’s edition.

The January 14-16 endurance event will see a wide variety of GT3 and GT4, silhouette and touring cars in action come the race weekend at Dubai Autodrome.

Moreover, this first international endurance race of the new calendar year will also mark the start of the 2016 24H Series powered by Hankook.

After the success of this year’s 10th anniversary edition with a record number of participating teams, there is again a lot of interest for the event.

Speaking on behalf of organisers Creventic, Daphne Gengler said: “With 89 cars participating in the race, this year’s Hankook 24H Dubai was the biggest race we have staged to date.

“We had a lot of well-known drivers like Jeroen Bleekemolen, the most successful driver in the history of the race in Dubai, local hero Khaled Al Qubaisi, and many more.

“In total, there were drivers and teams from 52 different countries on the grid, which is significant proof of the international appeal for the race.”

Compared to this year, regulations and class structure will largely remain unchanged while entry fee for the race is also the same.

As usual, the entry fee includes standard transport of a race car and equipment to Dubai and back, with Creventic taking care of all logistical formalities.
