The rivalry between top clubs has always been exciting watch, especially in the Premier League.

And when it comes to Liverpool-Manchester United, they don’t come much bigger.

With the two rivals set to lock horns this weekend, we take a look at the last 10 derbies between them.

17 October 2016: Liverpool 0 – 0 Manchester United

Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp failed to take away three points thanks to a fantastic performance by David de Gea who denied the hosts of any chance and a not-so-brave outing by Liverpool offensively. In fact, United were more dangerous on counter-attacks and missed some good chances.

The stalemate saw the sides remain static in the table, with Liverpool fourth and United seventh.

17 January 2016: Liverpool 0 – 1 Manchester United

A game that was heading for a 0-0 draw was taken by the scruff of the neck by Wayne Rooney 12 minutes from the final whistle. Wayne Rooney scored with a thunderous rebound past Simon Mignolet to end his 11-year wait for a goal at Anfield.

Although Liverpool dominated for most of the game, the game ended 0-1 in Louis Van Gaal’s favour.

12 September 2015: Manchester United 3 – 1 Liverpool

Who doesn’t remember Anthony Martial’s Manchester United debut? The Frenchman’s superb dribble and sublime finish was the highlight of the game as United won 3-1, also thanks to goals from Daley Blind and Ander Herrera.

Christian Benteke did get one back to make things a bit uncomfortable for United, but it was ultimately Martial’s and his side’s day.

22 March 2015: Liverpool 1 – 2 Manchester United

A dramatic, heated encounter at Anfield went in United’s favour thanks to a Juan Mata brace. But the talking point of the game was Steven Gerrard’s red card, the Liverpool skipper seeing red seconds after he came on at half-time for a bad tackle on Ander Herrera.

From 2-0 down, Daniel Sturridge did manage to pull one back, but it was too little, too late. Rooney also missed a penalty but it was Liverpool who left disappointed as their top-four hopes were left in ruin.

14 December 2014: Manchester United 3 – 0 Liverpool

A 3-0 victory at home tasted sweet for United, but the highlight of the match was David de Gea’s clean sheet as the Spaniard made at least six mind-blowing saves to deny Liverpool.

The visitors had plenty of chances they couldn’t take which, combined with defensive errors of their own, cost them the game. Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie, all got on the score-sheet for United.

16 March 2014: Manchester United 0 – 3 Liverpool

A thorough performance from Liverpool at Old Trafford saw them humiliate United 0-3 at home. Two Gerrard penalties and a Luis Suarez strike setlled it, ending a disastrous day at the office for United.

1 September 2013: Liverpool 1 – 0 Manchester United

David Moyes’ first defeat as Manchester United coach and the only goal of the game was scored by an in-form Sturridge. Just four minutes into the game, Sturridge headed home, causing United to desperately try and break down Liverpool’s defense but to no avail.

Gerrard and Van Persie were involved in an altercation on the field, footage of which grabbed plenty of attention after the game ended.

13 January 2013: Manchester United 2 – 1 Liverpool

Despite leading 2-0, thanks to goals from Van Persie and Nemanja Vidic, Manchester United had to dig deep to get the three points, at home. Sturridge got Liverpool back in to the game with his first Liverpool league goal, but that was all the visitors could muster.

United strengthened their grip on top-spot in the table with the win.

23 September 2012: Liverpool 1 – 2 Manchester United

An emotionally-charged game, for many reasons. It was Liverpool’s first home game after the 1989 Hillsborough tragedy report and tributes were paid to the victims before kick-off. Patrice Evra and Suarez also shook hands after the snub last time out.

The game saw Jonjo Shelvey being dismissed for a red card in the 39th minute, following which Gerrard scored. United came back with goals from Rafael and a penalty from Van Persie.

11 February 2012: Manchester United 2 – 1 Liverpool

This was an unpleasant match, to say the least. Suarez’ refusal to shake hands with Evra, their first meeting after the former’s eight-game ban for racially abusing the Uruguayan, meant there was an air of displeasure in Old Trafford throughout the game.

Evra was not amused and Suarez’ consolation added to the drama but Sir Alex Ferguson’s men ultimately came out on top.
