After winning the Man of the Series award in the Test series against New Zealand, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has climbed up two places to reclaim the top spot on the ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers. A rating of 900 points is a career-best for the 30-year-old.

Ashwin picked up 27 wickets at an average of 17.78 in the three-match Test series against the Blackcaps. In the third Test at Indore, he registered his best bowling figures in an innings (7/59) and in a match (13/140).

Dale Steyn and James Anderson, who are second and third respectively, will have to produce something special to take the number one position away from Ashwin, who is all set to play ten more Tests at home this season.

Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, dropped down one position to seventh and trails sixth-placed Yasir Shah by one point. The Pakistani leg-spinner has a good chance of breaking into the top five with a good performance in the Test series against the West Indies, which begins on Thursday.

For New Zealand, despite missing out on the Indore Test, Neil Wagner has jumped up one place to ninth with left-arm pacer Trent Boult dropping two places to eleventh.

Ashwin also tops the ICC Test Rankings for all-rounders, with Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan second. They are followed by Jadeja and England’s Moeen Ali, who are joint third. Australia’s Mitchell Starc rounds off the top five.
