After picking up the 22nd five-wicket haul of his career in the Visakhapatnam Test against England, India’s Ravichandran Ashwin continues to occupy the top spot on the ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers.

The Tamil Nadu off-spinner has a rating of 895 points and is well ahead of second-placed Rangana Herath, who has 867 points. Herath took 13 wickets in a Test against Zimbabwe earlier this month.

South Africa’s Dale Steyn, despite having an injury-ridden year, is the highest-ranked fast bowler in the world, coming in at the third spot. He is closely followed by England’s James Anderson, who himself returned to action last week after missing three Tests due to an injury.

Anderson’s bowling partner Stuart Broad is next on the list, having climbed up one spot from the previous update.

We have spinners occupying the next two positions, with India’s Ravindra Jadeja and Pakistan’s Yasir Shah coming in at sixth and seventh respectively.

Despite struggling as a team in Test cricket over the last few months, Australia have two bowlers in the top 10. Left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc is ranked eighth while Josh Hazlewood comes in at ninth.

The top ten is rounded off by South Africa’s Vernon Philander.
