India captain Virat Kohli slammed his fourth Test double century to guide India to 687/6d in their first innings of the Test against Bangladesh at Hyderabad.

The 28-year-old became the first ever batsman in the history of the game to hit four double centuries in four successive Test series.

He was ably supported by wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha – who notched up an unbeaten century – and Ajinkya Rahane who scored 82 on his return to the Test side.

There was also a handy contribution from Ravindra Jadeja who registered his fifth Test half-century.

The pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh was left-arm spinner Taijul Islam who picked up three wickets, while 19-year-old Mehedi Hasan accounted for two scalps.

In reply, Bangladesh lost the wicket of Soumya Sarkar before the end of day’s play. The visitors ended day two on 41/1, still 646 runs behind India’s first innings total, with Tamim Iqbal and Momimul Haque at the crease.
