After being reduced to 109/4 and later 235/6, the general thought was that Bangladesh will be looking at a huge first innings deficit in the Test against India.

But that was not the case as the Tigers ended the day on 322/6. Still 365 runs adrift of India’s total, Bangladesh are not out of the woods yet but there were some encouraging signs.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim led the fight back for the visitors with a 107-run partnership for the fifth wicket, with both scoring half-centuries.

Shakib was in attacking mode, scoring 82 from 103 deliveries when he mistimed a lofted shot to mid-on off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin.

On the other hand, Mushfiqur was much more conservative and is batting on 81. The Bangladesh captain will resume on day four alongside Mehedi Hasan who brought up his first Test half-century.

The duo have added 87 runs for the seventh wicket so far as they frustrated the Indians in the final session of play on day three when no wicket fell.

For India, Umesh Yadav has two wickets to his name so far while Ashwin, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have a wicket a piece.
