Jasprit Bumrah and Harbhajan Singh proved lethal with the ball as Mumbai Indians handed defending IPL champions Sunrisers Hyderabad a four-wicket defeat last night.

Searching for their second successive triumph, Mumbai’s home fans were fairly quiet with Sunrisers’ openers Shikhar Dhawan (48) and David Warner (49) putting on an opening stand of 81.

But it wasn’t long before the crowd were cheering when Singh (2-23) removed Warner and Deepak Hooda (9).  Dhawan soon fell to become Mitchell McClenaghan’s only victim with Sunrisers reeling at 114-3.

Bumrah, who grabbed one wicket in Mumbai’s four-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, added to his tally when he bowled Ben Cutting (20), before dismissing Rashid Khan and Naman Ohja as Sunrisers posted 158-8.

Chasing, Mumbai didn’t get off to the best of starts at 41-2. Parthiv Patel (39) frustrated the Sunrisers bowlers and although Keiron Pollard (11) failed to get going, it was the 38-run stand between Krunal Pandya (37) and Nitish Rana (45) that secured victory.
