Kings XI Punjab bowled Delhi Daredevils out for just 67, the third-lowest total in the history of the Indian Premier League [IPL], en route to a comfortable 10-wicket win at the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Sunday.

Sandeep Sharma, who returned to Punjab’s playing XI, started the proceedings by dismissing Sam Billings for a duck in the first over. He then went on to dismiss Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer as well, reducing the visitors to 22-3.

The Punjab fast bowler ended up taking four wickets for 20 runs, his best-ever bowling figures in the Indian Premier League [IPL].

The Kings XI spin duo of Axar Patel [2-22 from four overs] and Glenn Maxwell [1-12 from four overs] were excellent in the middle overs as the Delhi batsmen struggled to break the shackles.

Varun Aaron, who has been in and out of the Punjab side this season, followed up on the good work done by the other bowlers as he took two wickets and conceded just three runs in his two overs.

The hosts had a new opening pair for this match with Martin Guptill and Hashim Amla coming to bat at the top of the order and the duo chased down the tiny target with 73 deliveries to spare.

Guptill notched up his first IPL half-century as he scored an unbeaten 50 from just 27 balls in a knock which included six fours and three sixes.

With this big win, the Kings XI have climbed up to fifth in the table and have improved their net run-rate substantially. With eight points in their kitty, they are just two behind fourth-placed Rising Pune Supergiant.

On the other hand, the Daredevils still find themselves at the bottom of the standings with just four points from eight matches.
