Brain power: The winning team of GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis.

The unique competition for secondary school children, organised by Sport360 and supported by E-Sports, E-Sports FC, Budu Juku and Parkour DXB, took place at Safa School Dubai.

Participants displayed a high level of knowledge across various topics including football, basketball, cricket, Olympics, tennis and rugby.

In a tightly contested opening round, GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis, Springdales School, Indian International School Sharjah and GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail qualified for the next stage as the top four schools.

The final was played out between GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis and Indian International School Sharjah, with GEMS (80 points) getting the better of IIS (70). It was an impressive display from GEMS with team members Baseer Khan, Salah Nizami, Max Flynn, Maya Zaidan and Jac Downham only dropping four questions throughout the day.

James Bowring, general manager E-Sports, said: “Sport offers so much on the pitch through training and competing but there is so much to learn off the pitch and to truly appreciate any sport you need to respect everything about it. The National Schools Sports Quiz is a great platform for children to accelerate their knowledge and we hope this will encourage children to take up sports that interest them.”

The other schools that participated were; Ambassador School Team, Delhi Private School, GEMS First Point School, Indian International School Dubai, Our Own English High School Sharjah and Our Own High School Al Warqaa.
