The youngster’s performances have understandably sparked lots of interest at the club’s famed La Masia Academy – with the youngster catching the eye not just because of his name, but through his talent on the pitch.
Simons, who was born in Amsterdam in 2003, and is the son of former footballer and Barca fan Regillio Simons – was named after the great Xavi Hernandez.
And, inevitably, with Simons making his way through the Barca ranks – he has drawn comparisons with one of the club’s greatest-ever players.
