Barca officially launched their new kit on June 4 with a video including Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique, but for once the stars very much played second fiddle to what they were wearing.
The Catalonia club have ditched their traditional style for a Croatia-style checked shirt, promoting the slogan ‘talent takes different shapes’.
Judging by the replies on Twitter, it hasn’t gone down unanimously well with Barca fans.

The similarity with the World Cup 2018 finalists’ famous red-and-white checkers didn’t go unnoticed by Croatia’s Twitter account, either – though they noted that Ivan Rakitic would feel at home pulling on the new design.
Barcelona romped to success in La Liga last season, but were victims of a second improbable comeback in the space of two years in the Champions League, losing to Liverpool in the semi-finals after Roma heartbreak in 2018.
At least they’ll look completely different in one way next season …
