Amir Khan visits attacked Pakistani school

  • Amir Khan paid his respects and stated his wish for improved security and for terrorism to end.

    Boxer Amir Khan has lived upto his promise by visiting Army Public School Peshawar, which was centre of international attention after a deadly attack on he school took 142 lives mostly children, in order to show solidarity with the victims and families.

    Khan, who is of Pakistan Origin but represents Britain, said that he has come to Peshawar and Pakistan to show his respect.

    “The main reason I came to Peshawar and Pakistan was to see parents and the surviving children and show my respect,” Amir said while speaking to media.

    “I came here to give surviving children confidence to go back to school because lot of them would be scared of going back there. It’s all about us to give them confidence because children are the future of Pakistan. Whatever happened is very sad and my heart goes out to families whose children died and we can only pray for them.”

    The WBC Silver welterweight title holder has added that he is lucky to be living in England where they have a good security and he can send her daughter to school knowing she would be fine but that is not the same case in Pakistan.

    Amir also met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif as well and said that terrorism can be eradicated.

    “We’ve to stop terrorism and with help of Pakistan army and people, we can stop it,” he vowed.

    The generous boxer has also stated that he would train young boxers in Pakistan once his international standard academy is operational around mid of 2015 in Lahore after signing of MOU with Sports Board Punjab (SBP).

    SBP will build the academy while Amir will provide all the technical and coaching expertise to the rising pugilists.
