  • Jofra Archer, Tom Curran and Liam Dawson have been named in England’s 15-man squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, announced on Tuesday.

Barbados-born Archer qualified to play for England in March and has just three one-day international caps to his name.

Archer joins Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Liam Plunkett and Curren as pace bowlers in the squad.

Surrey’s Curran edged out left-armer David Willey in the pace-bowling selection, while Dawson’s specialist spin was chosen ahead of the all-round option of Joe Denly.

Led by Eoin Moran, the hosts, who have never won the World Cup, are among the pre-tournament favourites.

England begin their campaign against South Africa at The Oval on Thursday, May 30.

They play warm-up matches against Australia in Southampton on Saturday and Afghanistan at The Oval next Monday.
