MS Dhoni, in a new advertisement for Indian television channel Star Plus, sports his mother’s name ‘Devki’ on the back of his jersey as he goes to attend a press conference.
When questioned by a journalist what the reason behind using his mother’s name, Dhoni shoots back asking why there were no questions raised when he was wearing his father’s name for so many years.
The ad is part of Star Plus’ Nayi Soch (new thought) campaign, which is trying to break stereotypes that exist against women in society.
Similar ad films have also been made with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane.
