  • Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone and midfielder Koke faced the press on Monday night on the eve of their UEFA Champions League match against Juventus in Turin.

While Juve have already earned a spot in the next stage of the competition, a win for Atletico would see them join the Italian side in the round of 16.

A defeat for Simeone’s side, however, would leave them vulnerable in the group.

Although Juve star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has had a difficult few weeks, Simeone declared him a champion, at the same time stressing that Atletico are in Turin to play Juventus, not just Ronaldo.

Goals have been scarce for Atletico in recent weeks – they have managed to score more than one goal only twice in their last nine matches, and they go into the game against Juventus with just one win from their last five matches across all competitions.
