  • Son Heung-min and Hugo Lloris are encouraged by what they have seen from Tottenham Hotspur in pre-season, with the skipper claiming “everything is possible” ahead of the new season.

Spurs lost on penalties to Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup on Sunday after the sides had drawn 1-1 after 90 minutes.

South Korea forward Son said: “I think the players are ready, looking really, really good, looking really, really sharp.

“Of course the pre-season is part of a very, very important (build-up to) the season. I think the players are training really, really hard and training really well and during the tournament (International Champions Cup) the play was fantastic.

“I’m really, really happy to see these guys, to be fit and to be confident and I can’t wait to start this season.”

Asked on the goals for the 2019/20 season, French goalkeeper Lloris added: “I think it’s to improve, like every year. I think that the target is to get better season after season and it’s going to be difficult to do better than last season in the Champions League but we believe everything is possible.

“In the Premier League, it’s to reduce the gap on the best but the main thing is to obviously to get the top four, it’s the main target. And then if we can do better, we will try to do better. But I think it’s a very exciting season ahead of us and in the most competitive league in the world.”
