Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has praised Riyad Mahrez following the champions’ 3-1 win at Everton.
The Algeria international, who scored the second goal, was described by Guardiola as “outstanding” and “exceptional”.
Mahrez moved from Leicester City to the Etihad for £60 million in 2018, but struggled to hit his stride in the first season.
However, the 28-year-old has already notched three goals and two assists in the Premier League this season as he looks to capitalise on Leroy Sane’s injury in City’s front line.
“All this season he is playing outstanding, so. The action (for) the first goal, the second one and the two assist he did,” said Guardiola. “Then one especially to Raheem (Sterling).
“His commitment defensively is… one year he was the best player of the league so he’s an exceptional player. I’m happy for him he’s displaying incredible level.”
