  • Pep Guardiola was left incensed after his side’s 3-1 loss to title rivals Liverpool on Sunday with the Manchester City boss urging on the VAR officials to speak publicly.

City’s loss at Anfield saw Liverpool extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to nine points and the magnitude of the defeat was not lost on Pep.

The Spaniard was seen fuming on the touchlines after the referees failed to reward City a penalty in the buildup to Liverpool’s first goal of the match. The controversial moment came when Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold looked to have handled the ball in his own penalty area but referee Michael Oliver decided against it after checking with VAR.

Following the full-time whistle, Guardiola was seen ‘sarcastically’ applauding the match officials for their performance but the City manager denied doing so in the post-match conference.

See what Guardiola had to say on the referees and his handshake in the video posted above.
