Tottenham left-back Ben Davies has been left ‘shocked’ after the London club announced the departure of manager Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday.
The Argentine had at the helm of the club for five and a half years, but poor results which have stretched to almost a year saw him relieved of his duties. His sacking comes just five months after he led Tottenham to their first-ever UEFA Champions League final in Madrid where they were beaten to the trophy by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Davies was on international duty when the news of Pochettino’s sacking broke with Wales going on to seal automatic qualification for Euro 2020 with a 2-0 win over Hungary.
The joy on the defender’s face was short-lived after he was given the update on Pochettino post Wales’ win.
