  • New Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes it is important for his side to rebuild the connection with the disillusioned fans.

It has been another dismal season for the North London club who currently lie in 11th spot in the Premier League table. Just five wins in 19 games has seen the Gunners slide down the table with head coach Unai Emery subsequently being sacked for the horrendous run.

The side’s decline hasn’t been taken well by fans at the Emirates stadium with many of them vocally voicing their disgruntlement with the Arsenal players. Matters reached a head when former skipper Granit Xhaka was booed off the pitch during a substitution, with the Swiss midfielder not reacting too kindly to the reception from the fans.

Arteta, who was previously assistant coach to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, has stressed on the need to bring joy back to the fans as he gets ready to lead out the side against Chelsea.

See what the new Arsenal manager had to say about the relationship with the fans and the club in the video posted above.
