  • Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his hope that Granit Xhaka will continue to remain a Gunner post the January transfer window.

Speculation has been rife about an impending exit for Xhaka, who was stripped off his Arsenal captaincy by former manager Unai Emery. The Swiss midfielder had courted controversy when he reacted angrily to the chorus of boos from Arsenal fans while being substituted in a clash.

Xhaka has heavily been linked with a move to Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga with his agent recently confirming that negotiations about an exit are ongoing.

However, Arteta, who was recently appointed as Arsenal’s full time head coach, has repeatedly expressed his desire to keep hold of the midfielder.

Following Arsenal’s 1-2 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, Arteta was once again asked about Xhaka’s future at the club. See what the Arsenal boss had to say in response in the video posted above.
