Jurgen Klopp has hailed Liverpool for playing an ‘outstanding’ game in their 2-0 win over arch-rivals Manchester United.
The win over Man United pushed Liverpool 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and a 30-year wait for the title is inching closer towards coming to an end.
The hosts were into the lead early at Anfield after Virgil van Dijk powered home a header from a corner. They remained on the front-foot for much of the first-half, before ramping up the pressure immensely after the interval.
Liverpool came close several times at the start of the second-half, but were unable to double their lead. Following that period, Man United were able to grow into the game and create some chances of the own.
In the end, Liverpool sealed all three points with a swift counter-attack initiated by goalkeeper Alisson Becker which was finished off by Mohamed Salah.
