Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to accept that Manchester United are lacking confidence in front of goal after the 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He said the problem was “lack of energy” after a hectic schedule of games.
Both sides now have 35 points from 25 games, but United slip to sixth in the standings and Wolves go seventh after Sheffield United won 1-0 at Crystal Palace earlier in the day.
They will both drop another place if Tottenham Hotspur can beat Manchester City at home on Sunday.
