Passionate fans turned out in force to witness their beloved stars in action at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, most notably Mohamed Salah, Francesco Totti and Edin Dzeko.
“Francesco Totti is an idol here in the United Arab Emirates,” Roma general manager Mauro Baldissoni said of the 39-year-old Totti who is out of contract next month.
“Even more so than (Mohamed) Salah. It’s nice that they are the two who are most acclaimed by the fans, it seems like a nice handover between the past and the future of the club.
“Although I must say, Totti will continue to play for Roma and will be part of the Giallorossi family for a long time to come.”
Former Tottenham boss Martin Jol’s Red Devils claimed the spoils in Al Ain, while Totti, rolled back the years with a stellar performance that delighted his fans.
